Baby Bonnets - Newborn Photo props

One evening in 2013 I decided to play around with making some baby hats. I posted them on Facebook, and a local photographer contacted me asking if I could make them in newborn size for her photography business, specialising in taking pictures of babies under 15 days old. I was thrilled!

Of course, once her beautiful photos were available, I posted those on my Facebook and BAM! Suddenly I was in the business of making newborn photography props for all the local photographers 😀

I make a variety of baby bonnets, from little bears and bunnies, to special one of a kind bonnets.

My favourite yarn for the newborn props is alpaca yarn. 

This comes in the super fluffy brushed alpaca and a smoother kind.

The brushed yarn gives a lovely 'halo' and is just adorable on a newborn baby.

The alpaca yarn that I use is an excellent quality, and feels very soft- which is especially important when using it for a new baby. 

All the bonnets are handknit, by myself, in London, UK.  

The newborn size bonnets are designed to fit a baby under 15 days old, although most of my baby hats are made in bigger sizes for babies up to 12 months old.

I have a range of bonnets from teddies, foxes, simple classic bonnets and even ones with pom poms. 

Most of my bonnets are made in gender neutral colours so that you can match them to almost any backdrop that you may have.

My all time best selling bonnets are the little bears and the lambs. Little lamb ears have soft peach felt stitched into the inner ears.  Mouse bonnets have pink inner ears, and are just perfect for 'year of the Rat' babies!

Then of course, there are the acrylic bonnets, knit in almost every colour of the rainbow (and sometimes as rainbows too!

My favourites are these simple, classic style bonnets, with a little scallop around the face.

Simple enough to use on their own, with - or without - a matching stretch wrap.
